Hot Pineapple Shakedown

Breakfast 'jugos' - fruit smoothies - are a way of life throughout most of Latin America. Almost always made with fresh fruit, they're delicious + healthy!  ⁠

Typically fresh fruit is used, but in a pinch use what you have available. (You have canned pineapple and not fresh pineapple? - use it! No fresh ginger, but you have ginger powder? It ok. Don't like spicy or not as much - totally fine, adjust as needed! Only have concentrated OJ - that works too. I wouldn't miss out on the fresh lime juice, but you could use lemon instead. Better to have a smoothie than not. Plus, jugos are totally forgiving - that's what I love about them!)

Ingredients

  • 1 c. pineapple
  • 1/4 inch piece ginger
  • 1/4 small jalapeño
  • 1/2 lime
  • 1/2 c. orange juice

Steps

  1. Take all your measured fresh ingredients and put in a blender. 
  2. Blend all your ingredients on the smooth mode of your blender or for for about 15 seconds on high.
  3. Do not add ice. It waters down the flavor. If you want it cold use frozenpineapple fruit instead.
